You should have the option, while it is open, to do a save as choice.  In the save as choice, it should give you a number of formats to save it as.  One of those choices should be .RTF format.

    Just open the file in open office and select all to copy all contains either by right click to copy/ press CTRL C, then open Wordpad, and paste the whole / press CTRL V. However, if there are some pictures, then might be Wordpad can not show them properly. However, why you wanted to do this, that is not cleared here.
