How do I add an AS400 to a network hub

AS/400, Network, iSeries networking

I have an AS400 that used to belong to a network at our office. There were routers and static IP addresses. Now I have the AS400 at home and I'd like to attach it to the network hub that currently has my laptop and desktop and is also attached to the Internet via cable modem. My goal is to be able to ftp and telnet to the AS400 from either my desktop or my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you got the console terminal that was with the machine just log on and change the IP address(es) to ones in the range of your home network - CFGTCP ->opt 1.

If you don't have the console, you can set the subnet mask on your desktop or laptop to 0.0.0.0 then telnet to the AS400 ip address. Then you can change the address as above. You'll probably lose connection when you do that, but you should then be able to re-issue the telnet command with the new As400 address.

Remember to change the subnet mask back to its original value on the desktop or laptop.

Thank you so much. Once I changed the IP address and then started it, I was able to connect.
