 How can I resolve Windows xp pro not powering down ?
after telling the operating system to shutdown, after a few seconds you receive the screen saying "it is now safe to turn off your computer". instead of just powering down on its own.

Answer Wiki:
Check the systems bios to make sure it is set to power down. Should no such setting appear in the bios. Then check for bios updates.

May also be hardware, either MotherBoard you are using simply does not support programmed power down (mainly older ones), or you could have a disconected cable.

my older motherboard does not support this too..so after shutting it down i still will need to press the button before it goes off totally
