Could someone tell me how can I put a password into my router?

First you have to log-in to your router page. For login follow below steps:


1. Open your Local Area Connection;
2. Now click on details (Check below image)

3. There you will see IPv4 DNS Servers (Check below image)

4. Note down this IP and open this in Browser.

5. There you will see a page to login. Mostly times admin is the username and password.

    IF you are using a wireless router, you usually set up your password when you do the install from CD. (at least it worked that way with my Netgear router). Write it down when you do. As Mike asked what type of router are you trying to set up ? It may involve a little more work.

    With your router's default ip address, type it in your browser then you will be directed to its security settings. You should also provide account & password to enter to the settings.
