How can I lock a SharePoint column?

We embark on a compensation adjustment which involves sensitive info like salary. I, therefore, want to lock this column/cell to other people except their own! So how can I do that? I tried many ways including event handler, but I failed. Perhaps I am not good at coding! Any help is deeply appreciated!

I encountered many people recommend to use filter, that is to say, set the filter=’ME’. However, as I see it, it does not accessible in your situation.
I recommend you, therefore, take a look at some SharePoint web parts or add-ons such as SharePoint Column View Permission which can hide SharePoint Column and also hide SharePoint View.
