I have a user that is leaving the company, but we still need to get his emails from our vendors. How can I disable the account and forward all incoming mail to an active account, or a mail enabled contact?

Disable the user profile. In the Exchange Advanced tab of his profile properties. Click on the Delivery Options button. Set forwarding to the user you want to forward the emails to.

Thank you for the quick response. I have one more question and I should have asked it along with the original question. Will anyone that sends mail to this disabled account receive a NDR, because the account is disabled?

NDR’s can be used by spammers to verify email addresses etc. It may be a good practice to not send external NDR at all. Exchange 2003 can be setup to only send internal NDR and not externally.

No, the sender will only recieve an NDR if the user’s mailbox is disassociated or removed. Disabled users will still recieve emails.
