 Home network possibility?
Home networking
is there any way to setup my home network with the following:

 -a designated machine to run it if needed
 -something that will virtually pool my connected devices to one place or source  
-allows me to share printers, files, media without permission or security issues
-allows Mac, Win and Linux to connect and share freely

-somehow share my mobile wifi hotspot with the home network

belkin router, mac, win, ubuntu, fedora, htc evo, iphone

From what I see you have on your question, you are looking to make home network.
Would a solution of Windows Home Server be a solution. Benefits:
One hosted file server
Remote Access
Streaming Music/Video
Central Backup System
Access using Playstation, Wii, XBox etc
Would this is be the solution?

if you want you can use a (network access storage) NAS to connect to your network to share your files from a central place. it will be better if your NAS can have static IP. All you need to know is how many disk NAS you need and what is your current size and maybe your growth in near future.

as for printer, get either a wireless printer or wired printer and connect it to your network. it will be better if your printer has static IP.

for static IP just reserve it for both your NAS and Printer in the router.

by using this method, you can share files and do what is needed as said by PcClean.
