Home Network Configuration SQL Express 2005

Network connectivity, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server Express

Hello,
I am pretty new to Sql.

I had setup a SQL Express 2005 Advanced on a computer w/ xp on it before and had no problems.

I recently purchased a installed a new computer (the other one died) w/ Windows Vista.

As before, I downloaded and configured Sql Express per instructions for the software program I use it Sql for.

I can not seem to get the connection from my laptop I had established before using our home network.

I have disabled all firewalls for now in the server until I can get the connection.

Can anyone help me with this. I have enabled TCIP and NP. We were only using NP as we are not hosting the Database on the net.

my email is dsmorehouse@yahoo.com

Can you connect to the database from the machine which the SQL Server is installed on? Did you install a named instance or the default instance? Is the SQL Browser service running? Did you enable remote connections for the instance?

What's the exact error that you are getting?
