HIDWatch.dll Read Error 1167
I am a medical transcriptionist and use a foot pedal to do my work. The above error keeps popping up and my foot pedal stops working. I have to exit my document and the program and sometimes even reboot to resume my work which is ruining my productivity. Does anyone know the source of this error and how to fix it? Thanks

I found this in this thread: "...just a note to let you know if others have this same problem they should reinstall Express Scribe pedal drivers. The older version of Express Scribe used the HIDWatch.dll, but the newest version does not..." Here is the link to NCH software: Express Scribe Versions

I tried that but I don’t use Express Scribe and it did not work.

Sorry to read that.
Have you tried updating (or at least reinstalling) the drivers/software you use ?

Yes. I tried that and I still get the error. Very frustrating.

Have you asked the pedal manufacturer for support ?
When did this problem start ? Did you install something (hardware/software) new recently ?
Can you share the pedal brand, and the name of the software you use ?

This is an Infinity Foot Pedal (IN-USB-1) and Winscribe is the software I use.

hi, i’ve been using USB ft. pedal for the past 2 months. i use usb in escription work..the same problem occurs..it suddenly gets disconnected..then i just move the usb slightly to the right and left (not taking out) and get back into playing mode..but just today i found this error of HID watch error..when i was playing in Wavpedal….no real answer to this annoying problem wherein i have to sometimes log off completely from escription and then fix this problem.

theres is 1 solution to the problem, i found..u should not restart the comp but rather shut down. while shutting down, take out the usb completely, after shutting down…just wait for 10 seconds…reinsert the usb simultaneously as you switch on the computer..and then try. this is the method i’ve been using…but this affects your productivity.

for express scribe users, try downloading the VEC ft. pedal drivers..which u can find in NCH website..and see if thereis a change.
