I was wondering if anyone knew of a good CSM product for a single tech helpdesk. I need something to help me keep track of open tickets/projects, as well as, achieve solutions for closed tickets- ie have a IT library database for solution. Would be nice to be able to have users email their issues in and have the software automatically create a ticket, but not neccessary. Finally, cost is an issue since it would be only myself who would mainly be using this. Basically, I would like TrackIt without the 1500$ pricetag. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Software/Hardware used:
Windows 7 Professional, Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (exchange and domain), Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 (web and appsrv)

    Hi, Let me point you to WebHelpDesk, from MacsDesign. It is easy to install, supports many platforms (you can have it installed in a Linux server and yet sync users from Windows AD - flawlessly), it is very customisable, supports 2 way e-mail integration, auto-route tickets, asset management, knowledge base and it has a reasonable price-tag. Go and check it. They offer a 30 day trial version. HTH.

    We use osTicket running on a Linux Web Server, it's easy to use, has a clean web interface and all the functionality you need including tickets created from email and online forms. Best part is the price, free! For a small shop looking for an edge keeping up with support requests it's great, if you want a more customized option I would personally look into Drupal CMS to stay in a tight budget and keep the features. You could contact me and I'll get you as much as I have built so far in my Drupal ticketing system project (also a free open source product). A one man shop though I think that the time installing osTicket is more than worth it, especially looking at all the costs associated with other systems. osTickets url: http://osticket.com/
