[Can someone please help. I had the Storm for a while now and have been using BIS to get my work emails fowarded to my blackberry. HOwever, a few days ago, my work have changed from using exchange 2003 to 2007 and now I am clueless. Before, I just go to BIS and for the website access, I would put https://webmail.companyname.com/exchange, but now I think for the exchange 2007, I put https://email.companyname.com, and this not work. Is there a reson why 2003 works, but not 2007 ? Can someone plese help. Thanks

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You’ll need to contact your Exchange admin to get the new URL for your companies Webmail. They will also need to reconfigure the Blackberry Enterprise Server to point your phone to your new mailbox on the Exchange 2007 server.

The question was regarding BIS, not BES, so there is no need to reconfigure anything on the BES, there isn’t one for this user. Accessing OWA through BIS will work as long as the exchange admin has not blocked BIS access to the exchange OWA web site. So yes, get the new url, typically for exchange 2007 you do not need to include /exchange on the end. Our Exchange 2007 url is https://webmail.companyname.org. You may need to ask if the site is blocked to BIS users. This is a security measure exchange admins will take to block personally owned unauthorized devices from accessing exchange. You may need to find out if there is a policy regarding personal devices enacted as well.

I know the URL for my company and i put that in the BIS (blackberry internet service) site, but for some reason it doesn't accept. As for exchange 2003, it works fine. FOr 2007, it doesn't accept the URL i have. Also, I didn't have to reconfigure the blackberry enterprise server for 2003. Do I really need to go through blackberry enterprise ? I thought this is like pulling email through my exchange 2007. Please help.

Whether you go through a BES server or not is up to your company and its written policies. BIS access to OWA can be blocked if required by company policy. Personal devices may not be allowed. You will need to find out from your IT department what their requirements are. For us unauthorized personal devices are not allowed to access our exchange servers and to go through BES requires the personal device owner be willing to accept the imposed BES policies which allow us to wipe devices which are lost. Also owners have to pay for the license, they are not free. Otherwise they need to get a company blackberry issued to them and paid for by the company which will certainly have the polices applied by BES.

Thanks for the assistance guys. I am still confused and stuck. This is how I access my exchange 2007 account. https:\email.companyname.com. I put this exact URL in the BIS, but doesn't work. I tried taking the https and put http (without the s) and still didn't work. I replace the word "email" with "mail" and still didn't work, then replaced with "webmail" and still didn't work. How sensitive is exchange 2007 ?

Try the URL as https://email.yourcompany.com or https://mail.yourcompany.com . It looks like your have your slashes the wrong way, and only one where there should be two. You can key this into any IE or Firefox to test.

Thanks Dank. I tried that and still doesn't work. I have looked at other threads where people are saying try different URL as you mentioned, either https://email or mail, but for me it doesn't work. Does anyone else have somehting for me to try. It is very frustrating connecting through BIS. I didn't want to try BES cuz IT Support does not support for personal blackberries. It was fine using exchange 2003 until they changed to 2007. Please help.
