yes we are doing online backup if this mean doing backup to disk. and yes we are still dooing backup to tape.
The expert Like W. Curtis Preston does not recommand to take every thing out of taps. like alle the backup that have to go of site.
he best situation is to backup avery thing to disk and using a montly full to tape for out of the office storage
Last August, when I purchased a new network system setup for my business, we switched to online/off site backup. We basically have three lines of defense - the company I went through has our backup tower here, then where they are, they have us backed up at their location that creates a new backup every so many minutes, and they partner with a group who stores a third backup somewhere else in the country. In a way, it's excessive, but...if we ever needed it....
However, I still find myself making a disc backup of certain items, and the backup method we have does not backup anything only saved to your desktop - so you have to monitor your use.
I have used X-drive storage in the past for personal files too, and frankly I thought that was a pain - upload time was ridiculous, and y nerves about someone hacking their system didn't help.
Good luck in your search for better backup!
