When to comes to buying a SAN, nothing is cheep. Now $25k for a small SAN and vCenter is a pretty good price. Our solution cost us over $500k.
With Hyper-V the platform itself is free, but if you want to cluster that’ll cost you.
When looking at a SAN solution you need to look not only at the number of gigs of storage, but how fast that storage is. If the SAN has 5 1TB disks in it, there may be a lot of space, but as soon as you start to but any load on the array the performance will tank.
