Q:
Has anyone put Linux EXT4 Filesystem under pressure yet
Im interested to see if anyone has put EXT4 under real pressure yet. I would really like to know about peoples experience with large file systems running as both file servers and database server.

Thanks
Jason

I’ve a small server built up and tested at home with CentOS 5.4. The largest files i’ve worked with so far are about 16GB full system images from backups and some video editing projects. I’ve not had a problem yet. Access, copy, writing speeds all seem to be fine, but that’s a limited diagnosis as I’ve not done much at all.

Hope this helps!

I should have clarified. The purpose of that server now is a file server. It services 7 wired devices as well as a handful of wireless.
