The external hard disk you purchased might came with a USB data cable if so, just use it like USB drive.

There is a USB cable that is attached with this external HDD. Simply insert this USB port to your computer (assuming u have a pc/ laptop) and it will open automatically this drive. There are some external HDD system related files, brand new (if any and depends on vendor to vendor) either you keep it or copy to your Computer/ laptop hard disk. Now after inserting you can copy or move any file/ folder as usual.

First attach your hard disk with external data cable, it will take some time to install its software.

First before using new hard-disk format it.

Attach the drive via the (i assume ) USB cable. Wait until you computer recognizes the drive (click start button and then computer).
You should see a new drive. Open the folder that has the files you want to move, select them and cut / paste to new drive. That should be all there is to it.

Before transferring your data, I would recommend doing a NTFS format on it.  Once done, connect it with the cable that came with it and begin the transfer.  Now, if you have very large files, I would highly recommend move those first.  Quick question:  Are you backing up or just moving them.  If moving, then right click on the data and move it over, it will ask if you want to Move or Copy.  Select your option and then if you are moving, you will not have to go back and delete the files.  If backing up, just drag over and copy.
