Handling security issues for friends and Family
Microsoft Update feature is great, if you have a high speed link, over dial up the process is painfully slow. Now most IT staffers are getting calls from friends/family for help. Used to be able to do a download from MS on patches as if you were putting the code on the network, copy to CD and then you could help friends/family without spending hours downloading/installing. Does anyone have a solution for this problem, how are you handling these requests? I don't see how the non IT'ers are surviving the onslaught. Is this feature still available, just not clearly documented? Thanks

Unfortunately, you are right. The downloads are huge for a typically dial up line. I personally have given up on trying to do this with my friends and simply have them protect themselves with a anti virus and spam program. The patches have gotten to be too numerous and cumbersome. LOL
