I have a security requirement for SQL Server 2005 and 2008: "SQL Server shall be configured to halt if a failure in audit file rollover occurs". How do I accomplish this?

Software/Hardware used:
SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

SQL Server 2005 doesn’t have auditing, but SQL Server 2008 does. If you edit the Audit in SSMS one of the options is to shut down the SQL Server in the event of an audit failure.

I normally recommend not going this as if you do and the server shuts down you’ve got no way to get the server back online until you clear out the audit disk space. And while you are looking for documentation on where the audit is stored the SQL Server (and your application) are offline.

SQL 2005 have c2 audit files, but this files can write each file 240 or 250mb each file. how fast the files are created on how much the sql database is being used and all those are being log. last time one of our servers did halt due to hdd space was not enough. i had to clear the c2logs then restart the server then only everything was back to normal
