Hacking via ophcrack
i have forgotten my administrator password for my acc and i am using a limited acc nw. however i am able to access ophcrack but i cant load the hash file into the crack. is there anyway i could load the hash file in vista to my ophcrack to retrieve the password for my admin acc.

I do not know anything about ophcrack, however, we use a program called Active@ Password Changer. It's a commercial program that is very inexpensive and it works with all Windows OS that I have tested with. Just create a boot CD or Floppy, boot up and select your account and reset the password. This will strip the password from the account. Only gotcha to be had is if you have encrypted data of any kind, I think you will lose the ability to access that data because the encryption is tied to the password.

One of the best tools I have found for changing the Admin password is called chntpw. It is GPL and works like a charm! I have not tested with Vista but XP and below works fine.

Vista is supported from Ophcrack 2.3.4. You can download or compile your own rainbow tables for ntlm, lm, ntlm2 hashes to speed the cracking. You’ll need the system and the sam files i think they’re in c:\windows\system\config in Vista also, if not do a search.
There are plenty of other tools to crack a windows sam hash. Unless you have EFS on your hrad-drive or files, your best aproach for would be to null out the hash. I use for this task.
