 Geocoding Customer Address Information
ABAP, Development, SAP APO
Is it possible to allow SAP to Geocode customer information without installing the BW or APO modules? I have been searching on both SAP Developer's Network and other SAP Developer boards and cannot find any information on Geocoding outside of the BW or APO modules. In SPRO, I do see where you can turn on geocoding for address components in base SAP, but looking for information for a project I am researching. Thanks in advance!!

Geocoding is generally done through software that plugs into SAP - IE an outside vendor. We do use geocoding - however, I would not recommend our vendor. Also some of the vendors that do address validation also do geocoding. If you have any address validation software through a vendor - you might want to look at extending it

Geocoding is not done by SAP, but by software from an outside vendor. You can definitely do geocoding in SAP outside of the modules you referenced. The outside vendor software is contacted by standard functions contained within SAP. If you have any address validation software, these vendors often offer geocoding as well.

Hi,

As far as I know, the Geocoding is used in the Supply Chain Cockpit.
So if u manipulate the spro, i think u wil also need a ‘Cockpit’ to display the info/data in.
