Distributed/grid computing will continue to exist as it is different then cloud computing. Distributed/grid computing an example would be SETI@Home where people can download a client and then choose to offer their personal compute resources to assist the SETI project. Cloud computing the compute resources, network, storage, etc. would be owned by a single company (Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, etc.) or corporation for a private cloud. In the distributed/grid computing model the resources could be owned by a single company or shared as in the above SETI example. Also distributed/grid deals with workloads that can be run in parallel. You can put a web server farmer in a cloud computing environment, but a web server farmer would not be used in a distributed/grid computing environment. A monte-carlo simulation would be performed in a distributed/grid computing environment and it could be performed in a cloud computing environment but is more aligned as a workload with a distributed/grid computing environment.
