Hi, Could you please explain me the actual function of session layer. According to my knowledge it establishes, maintains and terminates the sessions between source and destination. But how it establishes the sessions....? As transport layer also do the same. Using port addresses it establishes and terminates the sessions. I read that Session layer determines the whether the destination address is local or remote..... but i am not clear on this point. how it will find out whether the destination is local or remote....? Please let me know the exact function of Session layer. Thanks & Regards, Rajesh.M
