Answer Wiki:
GO MAIN will take you to the main AS400 menu Take option 6 = Save Take option 21 = Entire system Note you must sign on with QSECOFR authority anddo this from the System Console. This will end all subsystems so you should have all users off the system. ========= If you are using a Windows Operating System, you can use the System Restore and the Windows Backup. These software are built in any versions of Windows Operating System. However, you can always prefer to use other external software for backing up files or the entire system. Select GO SAVE from the main menu Select Option 21. Entire Save

Thanks for your reply.

Once entered into BRMS, Can we perform through creating control groups or else is there any specified command to perform ? BRMS is also do the same process, what we use to do through go SAVE option 21?

You stated we must log onto QSECOFR.Instead of that we can use QSYSOPR profile log in to perform full system back up

Am I correct?

I think CharlieBrowne meant that a security officer level is needed. The actual QSECOFR profile is not required and probably should not be used.

However, QSYSOPR should work for an option 21 Full-system Save as long as it has at least *JOBCTL and *SAVSYS special authorities on your system. Those are the only documented required special authorities, and any profile that has them can be used.

Personally, I wouldn’t use QSYSOPR either. I would create a profile that had *SYSOPR user class to set the special authorities, and I’d use that new profile for operational work. I would have QSECOFR and QSYSOPR unavailable.
