550 Request rejected. You need to talk to whomever is in charge of authorities for the object that you are trying to retrieve or to whomever administers FTP access. You are clearly authorized to make a connection. But most likely either you are not authorized to download that object or the download function is restricted for you. Restrictions might be through Application Administration (or WRKFCNUSG) or through exit programming on an FTP exit point. Someone with authority to administer the function will be needed to grant access. Tom

Hi Tom We have two user profiles - it works for 1 and not for the other... authorities are all the same. We have been using the one that works but we need to change this because of the naming convention - service providers have changed. CPDEDI to DHLEDI Devan

We had a similar issue. Check the read/write properties for the IFS fodlers. We used IBM ISeries Navigator to make the necessary changes to the folder properties.

Have you tried the audit journal? I have often found the precise security issue from the AF (authority Failure) audit journal entry. Auditing must turned on. I can't decipher what commands you entered, but in any case, the entries in the security audit journal will tell you exactly what is failing.

...the entries in the security audit journal will tell you exactly what is failing. Because the response was "550 Request rejected." rather than "550 Not authorized to...", there's a good chance that there will be no AF entries in the audit journal. It doesn't seem to be an 'authority failure' from the system. It's more probable that an exit program is returning a 'Reject' back to the server. But the system audit journal is certainly the place to start looking when no good reason is found for anything else. Tom

but i can’t seem to be getting this right… Same problem? Has Application Administration been reviewed to determine if you are authorized to send/receive files on that AS/400? Simplest place to look is probably the list displayed by the WRKFCNUSG command. Scroll down to the QIBM_QTMF_SERVER_REQ_6 and QIBM_QTMF_SERVER_REQ_7 function IDs and take option 5='Display usage'. See if your user profile is listed with Usage *DENIED. (This can also be checked in iSeries Navigator, but it takes more words to describe.) If that looks clear, then use the WRKREGINF command. Scroll down to the QIBM_QTMF_SERVER_REQ exit point entry and enter option 8='Work with exit programs' to see if any exit program is listed. If any are, then you'll need to find out who is in charge of administering that program (or the product that the program is part of). Either way, we need to know the results of those two attempts before having any chance of suggesting anything else. Tom
