I have a server 2008. I need to host FTP for users outside the network i.e. on the internet. They will have their specific folders. I need this to be configured such that no CALS are used when they access their folders. I do not need authentication from AD, but will need some kind of authentication. Please suggest.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You only need CAL’s when you have users authenticating against AD or internal Windows Accounts. So things like logging in to a domain, accessing a fileshare or networked printer all require a CAL, visiting a website hosted on IIS that does not require a local/domain logon account does *not* require any CAL or external connector.

Thanks robert. each user has his own folder and the authentication is via AD. What other alternates do I have for authentication so that CAL is not used.
