If it's a savf that you're trying to FTP from a PC, make sure the target file on the /400 is created as a savf before you start the process.

From a DOS command prompt, type the following:

ftp [ip address]
<enter user>
<enter password>
binary
put [savefile] [library/target file]
quit

For a physical file, the only difference would be selecting ascii rather than binary.

As an alternative to opening a DOS command prompt, if you know the IP address of the source machine, you can start an FTP session on the /400 and replace the put with get.
