I have an ftp script (running on iseries) which attempts to put a file on a remote server which will be protected once delivered . My Ftplog shows connection and the directory change and then the put command issued followed by 227 Entering passive mode and then it returns 550 &filename: Access is denied . All within 7 seconds of the ftp script starting . Simple I hear you cry check the permissions on the remote server . The log on the remote server shows the connection, the file created followed by a further 30 messages showing the attempt to create the file 5 seconds later and then a closed statement again time stamped 5 seconds after the initial creation was logged . The owners of the remote server are telling me we created the file (which contains no data) our connection failed and we attempted to put the file a further 30 times after it had been protected . They don not show any attempt to re - login after the initial file creation message and the closed statement appears after the "further attempts to create the file "
I have checked our ftplogs for the job and the Sysopr messages and these do not indicate a lost connection just an access denied error . Any ideas as to where the fault lies?
