    No SQL DBA should be without this material. Of the vulnerabilities I come across in my security testing SQL Server/database issues are always at the top of the list. I don't know what it is but I've yet to come across a "hardened" SQL Server system. Not good for business when some of your most critical systems are often the weakest and just sitting there waiting to be attacked.

    Another good resource for hardening SQL Server is Microsoft's Security Compliance Manager tool. In that there are baseline configuration suggestions for SQL Server including 2012.
