Q:
Free busy errors and OAB synch errors on Exchange 2007
I was getting errors from Outlook 2003 client users that their OAB would not synch. And on the Exchange server I got Free/busy errors. The synch errors only occured with Outlook 2003 clients and below. Outlook 2007 did not get this error.

I wanted to post this because I could not find an answer anywhere on line either on MS sites or elsewhere.
In my Exchange organization we have a dedicated Public Folder server with one mounted Public Folder database. All service packs and rollups are applied to all Exchange mail servers.

After hunting down every article I could find involving error 0x8004010f when a 2003 client tries to do a send/receive I finally called support. The support technician also did a search in every KB article he could find and did not find a solution. He set up things in his test lab to mirror my Exchange setup and was finally able to find a solution. I did not have a mail store mounted and apparently in order to successfully create versions 2 ,3 and 4 of the OAB there had to be a mail store mounted on my Public Folder server. Once I mounted a mail store this error stopped occuring on the Outlook 2003 clients. The free busy errors also stopped occuring. Since I could not find this solution posted anywhere I wanted to post it for anyone else who might encounter this issue.

As a side note, all my exchange servers are Exchange 2007 SP1.
