forward traffic to proper Domino server with web server doc
This domain has a single external IP address, firewalled, with web and mail on the NATed primary Domino box. We want to add sametime or quickplace to another box, as the primary is limited on RAM. qplace.domain.com:8080/quickplace works fine, as do the test places that exist; the firewall's port forwarding takes care of this. However, for visitors' sanity, we want them to only type 'qplace.domain.com' to get to the new quickplace server, or qplace.domain.com/placename. I have http://internal IP:8080/quickplace as the home URL in Default Mapping; however this breaks since external visitors cannot see that via the non-routable internal IP. My attempts with redirection and substitution rules also failed; I cannot see the forest for the trees anymore - may I ask for some guidance? Thank you for reading, jim

Answer Wiki:
What about... Have the firewall forward qplace.domain.com to the internal IP. Have the home URL set to http://qplace.domain.com/whatever. Use the host (or LMHOST, I can't remember which) file to make sure the network knows which box to use.

Thank you, I will try the hosts entry. The problem is is a DNS-style issue; I thought that Domino could fwd traffic to other servers in the Domino domain.
hosts should do it, I appreciate your help.
