I have one client PC on an SBS 2003 network. I need to gain access to the local machine outside of the network to check on the User Rights. Problem is - we have lost the password for accessing the Administrator on the local PC - is there a way in which I can reset the password without compromising the PC on the SBS 2003 network?
You would need an account with administrative rights on the machine itself. If the PC is on a domain, you can use the domain administrator account to access the PC with the Computer Management MMC to change local user passwords remotely.
ERD Commander hat a tool for this...
