Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The application is Excel.

Say you have four columns. One of the line is the number “4″. The other three columns in the row can be any number except “4″. Do I have to write “If/Then” statements to accomplish this? That’s a lot of “If/Then” statements…Help!

You'll need to be more clear about what you are trying to do. Also what application are you trying to do this in?

The problem statement is excessively vague. The following all satisfy your conditions: 1. Fill all the columns with zeros - all rows, all columns. Then put the "4"s wherever you want them. Don't want all zeros? 2. Fill all the columns with "=rand()". Then, put the "4"s in. Don't want numbers between 0.0 and 1.0? 3. Fill all the columns with "=ROUND(RAND()*(3-1)+1,0)", which will populate the fields with random selections of 1, 2, or 3. Then put the "4"s wherever... You can see that as stated, the problem has infinitely many trivial (and meaningless?) solutions. You need to state the purpose and constraints more clearly.
