Whenever I try to access folders on the AS/400 using the WRKFLR command I get an MCH3601 error message. I need to be able to access the data in the folders to process the data in a PC application.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Are you really looking for the data in a folder in the IFS? If so, try the WRKLNK command. WRKFLR was used for the poor performing QDLS file system.

Normally, you shouldn't be getting error messages from a system command, at least not that you would notice directly. The command should fail gracefully and tell you why. You may want to run the command, let it fail and then look at your joblog to see if it tells you what caused the error. It almost sounds like something is missing that should be there, or there's something wrong with the IBM product. Aside from the fact that the QDLS system is old and clunky, it should still work and i've seen some programs that insist on using it, so you may still need it. I'm not even sure that you can (or should) get rid of it. Assuming the files are intact you don't really need to use the WRKFLR command. You should still be able to access the files from a PC assuming you have authority to the folders and their contents. But you should still fix the problem. It may (or may not) be an indication that something is very wrong. And why wonder?

You may want to try the RCLDLO *All to see if that helps. Also, make sure the user ID you are signed on with, is in the system directory. You can use the WRKDIRE to check. A last suggestion would be to reinstall QUSRSYS via the GO LICPGM menu, option 11. Good luck!

I have lost all my folders within WRLKLNK in QDLS. But can see them in WRKFLR with all the Documents... How can I get them back to WRKLNK QDLS so We can access them through our PC NETWORK Mapped Drives?

How can I get them back to WRKLNK QDLS so We can access them through our PC NETWORK Mapped Drives?   WRKLNK has no connection to whether you can access a directory through a PC mapped drive, and you shouldn't be accessing QDLS through a mapped drive nowadays anyway. It's possible that Windows networking no longer is capable of accessing QDLS in your network. It requires an old, essentially obsolete networking protocol.   If you run WRKLNK '/QDLS/*' on a command line, what happens? If any error occurs, what shows in the joblog just before the error?   Tom
