 Folder redirection and re-mapping
With clients running on XP PRO sp3 on a 2003 domain we have several users who have shortcuts to "\serverAFolderAanything". Is there a way to run a script that will re-map those shortcuts to a new location? I have the one that will run if you know the end users shortcut name, but we don't know what they called the shortcut and it could be anywhere, in there documents, the desktop, toolbar, in their own user share. And they may have many shortcuts to different documents and items in that directory. So the script would I guess have to run on the DC or WINS or DNS server and wait for a client query to "\serverA$" and then look at the "$" and redirect the query to the new "\serverA$" location. The folder structure on the new "\serverA" would be the same and the folder and files would all be in the same place, relative path that is, just s new "\serverA" starting target. I hope this makes sense and someone can assist me in figuring this one out. I looked at the folder redirection options in AD and didn't see what i was trying to do. I would have to be per user since not everyone uses all the files in that directory. Just wait for the query then redirect the user and remapp the shortcut in the users location to the correct new location.
