After a change of machines, I had to reinstall MySQL but I'm having a big issue. It keeps telling me that it can't find the socket. I can't either to be honest. This is on a Mac too. Where can I find the socket file? Thanks so much

    If there is no .sock file, or is there an error to start mysql, you can crate this file and can overcome this issue. First look for my.cnf file Or you can search the same. If not found, create my.cnf file. And add the below lines,

    [mysqld]

    socket = /var/mysql/mysql.sock

    Now save this file & restart mysql server.

    Or run the command like,

    % mysqladmin variables

    For socket variables.
