File Sharing with a PC not in your domain
I have a PC that is connected to a Windows 2003 server, and as such is a member of that domain. I also have a older PC that is not capable of connecting to our Windows 2003 server. I would like to share files that are on the PC connected to the Windows 2003 server with the PC that is not capable of connecting to it. I can see the PC that is attached to the Windows 2003 server via Network Neighborhood, but when I attempt to access it I am prompted to enter a password. I've tried every password it can possibly be, but I'm still not getting in. I made sure that folder I shared has "Everyone" listed as who can access it. Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

Answer Wiki:
try this, use the domain or the pc name of the pc you want to connect to with the password: domainusername password or make sure that a profile is on the pc and use: pcnameuser password

I may be wrong, Derdoktor, but I think you meant to put a backslash (the key that’s the un-shifted “pipe” over the main Enter key, on most keyboards) between the domain or workstation name, and the userID.

This site seems to want to strip away all backslashes for some reason.

Cheers

Assuming you are in an AD domain, when password information is requested, enter a user name as follows:
domainnameusername. then enter the password.
