Fibre Channel cables – are they all the same?
Looking to purchase some fibre channel cables and was curious about what people think about each brand and if they have noticed any difference with the lower priced brand? Looking at SC-SC and LC-LC

Answer Wiki:
I just picked up on LC-LC cables at Fry's and I haven't seen any problems with them (knock on wood). I think the ones I bought had a certification on them, couldn't tell you which one though I tossed the packaging. As long as the glass isn't broken and the ends are on good, and the cover is consistent all should be good. I buy cables from cdw. Usually they are belkin, but occasionally other brands. But I havent yet had any issues.

Not much differnece on the brand, the only thing you have to consider is the gap between switch and glass door of the cabinet. If you have less space then make sure to pick up the cable with lesser width. I am using from Systimax, brandrex, belden and infact locally assembled cables as well found no difference in the performance, esp when I tested the db loss using the fiber tester. The most important thing is the db loss.
