FC for host connectivity and iSCSI for replication
Hello Gurus, For a customer we have decided upon a SAN solution with one AMS 2100, and two Brocade 5120 switches, each in 2 sites 200 miles apart; and opted for FC for front end connectivity to servers (T3, M5000, C7000). The plan is to make use of iSCSI for remote replication (Truecopy Async). I am aware this is not the best solution as performance could potentially be an issue going forward, but the setup being smallish and replication data size < 1 GB with RPO 1 day it is estimated to be worth it (commercially). Link available is a 10 Mb/s wan. I would like to know what are the pros and cons of this solution. Any DOs and DONOTs, other suggestions around this will be help. Thanks, Amit

Answer Wiki:
I don't see that much of a problem using iSCSI for replication over a 200 mile run, assuming that you are doing asynchronous replication as that is to far for synchronous replication.

Thanks for your response Mrdenny. I am doing a bit of research on iSCSI as not used it before. Any good URL, whitepaper you know on this?
