 Extend Partition Size – Win XP

Is there any other way to extend the size of a partition in Windows XP other than DiskPart? I've tried that method but to no avail. I deleted an extra backup partition and want to use the unallocated space to add to my main partition.

I use it often for resizing partitions after installing a larger hard drive. The link is for the free trial, though you will have to pony up some money to get a working copy. This <a href="http://www.extend-partition.com">partition manager</a> will allow you to change partition size for free. This <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308424/">site</a> explains how to use the disk managment software that is included with windows to change partition size. Another one is <a href="http://qtparted.sourceforge.net/">QTParted</a>. These are both partition table editors. As the documents recommend, be sure to backup the critical system data before using these types of tools.

You could use a free partition software to extend partition for Windows XP. Inbuilt disk manager of XP cannot make partition resize operation. Download a freeware: http://www.extend-partition.com/download.html

Another partition tool option is EASEUS Partition Master who has a free home edition.

if diskpart utility is not working for you, try third party partition freeware, they are more powerful in disk partition management, and totally free of charge.

by the way, partition magic is a charged one.
