Why do you have to export to excel first? You can copy all in the public folder to your personal folder. Change the view in the public folder to all appointments. This changes it to a tabular view. Then click inside the window listing the appts, hit cntrl+a to select all. To copy them go to edit at the top of outlook and select copy (it is not in the right-click menu). Then paste them in your personal calendar. Or to move them, select all right-click and select "move to folder" and move them to your personal folder. This will delete them out of the public folder.
