Export/Import schemas

I had this issue. Everytime a user resigns, i had to export his schemas and import it into another user who is taking over his duties. Q1: Can i use import/export utilities to specify different schemas under oracle 9.2.0? How? Q2: Do i need to give authority/? to allow the new user, user2, to use the schema w/o putting the schema name, eg, SELECT emp, deptno from user1.table1 WHEREBY user1 is the user who had already left. Q3: What other considerations are there? Grants etc? Background: oracle 9.2.0 in win2k

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Q1, Export using statement OWNER=(user1), then import using statement FROMUSER=(user1) and statement TOUSER=(user2).

Q2, No need to give authority, as the user1.table1 will become user2.table1.

Q3, If OWNER has given grants to their tables, views, etc. then TOUSER would need to do the same if required. Example if user3 has access to user1.table1, they’ll lose it once the OWNER schema is dropped.
