Export Windows Directory Permissions

Q:
Export Windows Directory Permissions
I need to export the DIRECTORY permissions for a series of Windows directories and sub-directories. I need only directory permissions, [em]not share or file[/em]. Is there a tool that can do this? Alternatly, I could use a tool to copy the directory structure only with permissions intact.

Have tried:

  • Cacls
  • DumpSec/ACL
  • Robocopy
  • Xcopy
  • Scopy
  • Permcopy
All with no luck

Thanks

MicJ

Secure copy from Script Logic can do this for you.

I forgot to include a key piece of information. The server I am extracting from and the server I will be using these permission for are not part of our our AD environment. Both servers are in different workgroups - not bound to a domain. So I, I am able to recreate the folder structure and user accounts but need to apply the correct permissions to the directory structure using the accounts on the new server. Does SecureCopy remap accounts/SID’s? I have version 4 of the app but not sure if it does this. A glace at the manual has not revealed anything on this yet.

Thanks

There is an option to copy local users and groups. You should test to see if it works as I have not used that function.
