 Oracle 8i to Oracle 10g Export /Import
Oracle 10g, Oracle 8i, Oracle import/export
Hi, Presently iam Exporting the Oracle Database of 8i version 8.1.6.0 on HP-UX to import on Oracle 10g 10.2.0.3 So my question is there is any need to apply 8i Patch before taking export i.e; from 8.1.6.0 to 8.1.7.4 this is the last & latest patch of 8i to support 10g so i want to ask you that it is necessary to apply the path even for using of export & import also as i am not Manually Upgrading the database so it is necessary to apply patch before export. Thanks in Advance........

I'm not positive. Saw this <a href="http://searchoracle.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid41_gci1192247,00.html">question</a> which indicates that a direct upgrade to 10g release 2 is supported from 8.1.7.4 so I would guess that what you are trying with export/import from 8.1.6.0 would be possible. I think it's worth trying first. After you use the 8i export, the 10g import utility will complain if it can't utilize the 8.1.6.0 export file.
