 expired credentials in Windows XP
We have one particular XP-Pro system that repeatedly throughout the day (5-6 times) will ank the user for their credentials again. After entering them will continue just fine. This is the only system doing this and is pretty annoying. Why is this happening?

Answer Wiki:
This could be occuring because of some service or application trying to start that is set to run under some other permissions. Check for apps started that may need to logon somewhere and check the user accounts to see if any are locked.

I had a similar situation where a database application was starting and trying to auto logon with other credentials.

Oh boy !

Lot of things to check here, I would start with following
1- Spyware, virus or a possible key logger. Do a Hijackthis test and Spybot test, that should bring out main problems
2- A connectivity problem, could be connection reset which makes XP to request the username/password
3- One more thing to check if the system is disconnected, do you still have same problem

I would say spyware. I would try the microsoft anti-spyware program. You can find it at www.microsoft.com and do a search for anti-spyware.

Does this happen to all users who logon to this PC, or does it happen to only one user. If it does happen to only one user, delete that user’s profile and recreate it.

As stated before, if the profile is roaming also delete the roaming profile and the local profile some times the roaming profile may be corrupt and this can cause the users to keep putting in there user name and password.
