Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I’m not sure if my answer will apply to your situation, but here goes… We use Exchange 5.5 on NT and our users are all Win2k/Outlook 2000. We use VPN for remote connectivity, and the way we connect to our mail server using Outlook over VPN is we put an entry for the mail server in the hosts file on all our client machines.

I am confuse. Is your Exchange server on a DMZ? Once you establish connection via the VPN to your network all resources should be availabl to you provided you have the correct credential. I would also check with your net admin, to see if your VPN account is allow to connect to the Exchange server, or just add the IP address of the exchange server to your host file.

Thanks for the reply, SBS 2000 is the only server on network, and exchange is part of it. This means that we have one ip adress for both.

First, set the DNS server in the TCP/IP settings for the VPN connection to point to your server. Then all you have to do is set up Outlook as you would in your work evironment with the name of the Exchange server. DNS is the key to making things run correctly through VPNs.
