You want to confirm the error a remote mailserver provides to help pinpoint what the problem may be. You may not be blacklisted but you may not have a reverse lookup IP entry. Most servers to fight spam use this method in addition to RBL.

Definitely telnet 25 to the remote mail server by mail.domain.com or IP. and go thru if you are sending an e-mail to the remote site. Just remember you will need a remote e-mail address to continue all the way thru complete.

Here’s a link to help if you don’t know the steps to telnet 25.

from my experience in doing exchange last time, when your mail cannot go out and it queue means there is something wrong with your routing..... how does your email go out? does it go thru a proxy or...? does it go thru like a mail scanner? not only that, at times some websites won't tell you that your IP is being blocked..other might tell you though...

Some mail servers require a valid reverse lookup on your mail server name.
