I have a 2007 exchange environment; with Exchange Server 2007 running on Server 2008. I have installed Exchange service pack 1. I have one domain controller and one domain. The problem I am having is when I try to connect an outlook client to the Exchange server. When I start the client to initially set up the clients email it says configuring and acts like it is talking to the server. However, it times out and when it drops back to the check name screen, it fails to check the name. I am getting the following error. "The exchange server is currently unavailable, outlook must be online to perform this action" I have tried several clients and additionally I cannot get the C2C Mail archive client to connect either. Any help you can provide is appreciated. The bump on my forehead is getting bigger by the moment and the wall isn't crumbling.
I have tried the following
1.Verified the network connectivity by ping with name to check resolution. I have used the browser to see if upper layers of resolution are working. That all works fine.
1. I deleted the email accounts, built a new test one and changed the mailstore I was using.
1. I have turned off all firewalls and by the way this is a small network behind a router. Internet access but all users are on the local LAN.
This worked when I first installed Exchange but something I did must have caused this. I added office Enterprise to the exchange server, which I have since removed. I have done too many things to list. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this fiasco.
