Q:
Exchange server 2007 recovery storage group backup
Has anyone successfully restored a backup of an Exchange 2007 store/database using the Recovery Storage Group features of Exchange 2007?

I keep running into issues restoring the database, not emails.

Using Symantec Bakup exec 11d

I suggest you call Symantec for assistance with this. Are you on SP1 with Exchange 2007? We are using Symantec's NetBackup for our Exchange and the restores are easy enough but I had to make a change in the restore windows that is not documented in Symantec's guides for the restores. The tech had to go find out why they were not working for me and came back with the solution but I told him it was ridiculous that it was not anywhere in their documentation. So yeah, definitely give them a call.
Now if the problem is with setting up the recovery storage group itself, that is a pretty straightforward thing to do using the Exchange 2007 console. Is that where you are having the problem?

We were informed we had to upgrade netbackup to support SP1. So yes, definitely call Symantec and ask for assistance with this. There is probably some setting you will need to alter like we did if the problem you are having is the restore itself, not the creation of the recovery storage group.
