HI all, I am having prblems gettting this to work and wonder if you can help me out. I have exchange sbs 2003 and i want to forward and internal emails to external email(gmail). Eg: bob@company.com wants to have his emails forwarded to bob@gmail.com I have done some research this is what i have learnt. (http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF015.html) 1* setup another account (bobexternal@company.com) in AD and 'point' it to the external email. 2* enter properties of bob@company.com and forward the emails to bobexternal@company.com The problem i am having is at step 1*, could someone here clearify it?? in my email addresses there is 2 smtp addresses and a x.400 with c=US; a=; p=company etc. could someone explain slowly. Thanks!!

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Create a mail-enabled Contact in Active Directory and configure it with the external SMTP address. Then configure the user’s mailbox to forward all incoming e-mail to the contact but also keep a copy in the mailbox in Exchange System Manager.

This link helped me when trying to co-exist with Exchange Online and Exchange on premise with a SBS03. SBS can’t use dirsync because they are a domain controller.

Hi, I wonder whether someone can explain this to me. I have followed all the instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281926 and when I send a message to test whether it is forwarded to the email in the contact, I get a notification of failure: Action: failed Status: 5.5.0 Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 Not permitted Can anyone help me? By the way, I have tried to forward to gmail and hotmail accounts with the same result. Many thanks.
