Exchange Public folder moved replica missing contents

Exchange migration, Exchange 2007, Exchange 2003

I am transitioning from exchange 2003 sp2 to Exchange 2007 SP1.
Had all mailboxes moved to new server.
Noticed then public folders started showing no items (public folders had not been transferred.

Tried moving public folders with the MoveAllReplicas.ps1 cmdlet and nothing seemed to happen. We don't have all that much in our public folders. Waited awhile and saw no signs of action.

Used 2003 EMC to Move Replicas. This gave me a nice dialog running through all the folders and a message that i needed to check "Folder Replicas" to make sure it is empty when replication was complete. Let that run. Noticed that what was a once empty contacts folder now had 328 of the 2000+ contacts in it from the outlook interface. Hours later still 328 contacts. Next day still 328 contacts. "Folder Replicas" on 2003 still has entries shown as in sync. The size of the replica indicates that it still holds the other 2000 contacts but won't give them up. The 2007 public folder still have 328. This is the only folder that I was intimately familiar with as to how many objects it had. The others I can't verify if they are all there. Some folders have many entries.

Is there a way to poke into the 2003 public folder to see what remains? Is there a way from 2003 EMC to export the contents of the public folder?

Thanks,
Joel

You use the public folder admin tool to view the contents of the folder. It will allow you to connect to the specific server for which you want to view the contents of that public folder.
Do a search for PFDAVAdmin 2.8 Install it on your local pc, not the exchange server.
There are a number of useful administrative tasks for public folders that you can do using this tool. You will love it!.

On Exchange 2003 I got the folder properties of a public folder. It had the 2007 server listed as the only replica. I added the 2003 back in as a replica. It lists as having 2000+ items while the 2007 replica only has 328 items.
I created an email account on Ex 2003. When I use outlook with an email account residing on the 2007 machine I see the 328 items. When I log on to with the email account that resides on the 2003 server I now see the 2000+ items. The 328 are duplicates of items in the 2000+ items.
The public folder items seem to be orphaned. The move replicas did not work as I had hoped. My plan at this point is to add the 2003 server back as a replica server for all public folders. Log on with an exchange account that resides on the 2003 server and manually copy all public folder data out to a pst.
Take the 2003 server offline. Manually copy all public folder data into the 2007 folders via an exchange account that is on the 2007 server.

Anyone have an better ideas?
Thanks,
Joel
