 Exchange Information Store Consolidation
Hi there,

I am currently busy planning for the Exchange Information Store consolidation, we have three Information Stores on Drive FGH, I would like to consolidate this into one volume. I have about 6x36GB drives that I would like to combine and use as a single vol for this project. Please advise

Answer Wiki:
I think we need a bit more information. First of all, are the 6-36 GB drives currently part of the array, or are they being added? What version of Exchange are you running?

If you are running Exchange 2000, you simply go to Exchange System Manager, expand the Administrative group, find the mailbox or PF storage store that you want to move, and open the properties window for that store. On the general tab, browse to where you want the transaction logs to go; on the Databases tab, browse to where you want the databases to go. Acknowledge any warnings you may receive about moving the files if they're online.

As for changing the volume properties themselves, if you're not adding new drives to the array, you may have to rely on a product like Server Magic to resize them. If you are adding new drives to the array, then you can just expand the volumes and be done with it. Without Server Magic, you will probably be stuck with the F,G,H volumes unless they're on dedicated drives.
